Travel Plans in 2024

Spread the love

I have always loved to travel. Even growing up I had the desire to travel. Growing up, I wanted to be a photographer for National Geographic. Then I wanted to be a photojournalist. Even in college, I remember telling people I wanted to live in an RV and travel the US. Then I wanted to live in a tiny house, and now I’m traveling and car camping on the weekends in my SUV. I have so many travel plans in 2024, and I’m not sure I’m going to be able to do it all.

January

I’m car camping at a local state park. I brought all of my basics with me. I recently received a 0 degree sleeping bag, and I want to test it out. Anyone who knows me knows that I don’t like cold weather. This year I am doing things outside my comfort zone.

February

Girls Trip to Iowa. We are going to Iowa to do some writing, and reading, and to get away. I have planned the whole trip and I’m so excited to do this for my friend. We are going to some bookstores and a hockey game. Plus a few other surprise for her.

March

I have 2 possible trips planned. I’m not sure which one I’m going to do yet, but I am excited. I’ll probably go camping again near by for the weekend because hopefully, the weather will be better. I am hoping the weather is nice so I can start car camping and hiking. A travel plan for this year is to explore more of Illinois.

April

April 8 is the solar eclipse. I have been researching the directions, and the best places to see it. I haven’t decided if I am going to hike somewhere or go kayaking. This is the first month in my travel plans where I don’t have a lot planned.

May

Kentucky Derby. I would love to go the whole week, but I probably won’t have enough PTO from my full-time job. My goal now is to go Thursday-Saturday. Thursday is Thurby which is considered the Kentucky Derby for the locals. Friday is the Oaks which is only 3 year old female. Saturday is the Kentucky Derby which can be male and female 3-year-old horses.

June

As of right now, I have no travel plans. I probably shouldn’t go anywhere because I have a big trip planned in July. I’m sure I’ll stay local and do some hiking and camping. There are plenty of trails that I haven’t done that can be a quick day trip or a weekend trip.

July

The trip that I have been planning for almost a year and a half. I’ll be traveling through the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I am so excited about this because I am going to do so much hiking and car camping. As of right now, the trip is 7 days but could be a little longer.

August

Same as June, nothing really planned right now. Probably be chill because college football is coming up. I am obsessed with college football and with 2 new teams in the SEC. There are going to be some insane matchups. There are some games that I am so excited about. To be honest, I have been excited since the SEC released the schedule.

September

Iowa State at Iowa. I’m staying at The Graduate, hopefully. Nothing really officially planned but I am sure something will come up. It usually always does. I might go car camping and hiking.

October

Sedona might be on the list of places to go. I really want to go to Sedona and travel through Utah. BUT it is college football season. I am a huge SEC fan, and with Oklahoma and Texas coming into the conference there are some amazing matchups. The last weekend in October is Oklahoma at Ole Miss. I love Ole Miss and haven’t been to the Grove.

November

Arkansas vs Texas at Cowboy Stadium. I am so excited for this game. Most of the time I am a huge Arkansas fan but lately, I haven’t been so happy with the past coaching hires. And yes, I am that person who will like or not like a team based on the coaching staff. Plus, iykyk how much I love Coach Sarkisian.

December

Probably nothing. It is no joke that I hibernate in the winter. I don’t like the cold and I don’t like snow. Everything depends on the weather.

Dates: Friday - Sundays until April 27
Time: 5:30p-9:30p

We got there around 6:30pm, and didn’t leave until 9:15pm. The website says the walk will take about an hour, but you can go at your own pace. There are so many lanterns in each animal exhibit.

We started going through the Asian Trail, there was year of animals. The Africa section was my favorite, but I am not going to tell you why. But it was a nice surprise, and I was way too excited.

There were hands on activities throughout the zoo, but by the time we got to some of the areas it was closed.
-make your lantern
-paint rocks to be placed around the zoo
-tattoos
-music each night

What are your “musts” when traveling? Let me k What are your “musts” when traveling? Let me know in the comments!

These are the things I always have when I travel: (arrow down)

1. Spare credit card/bank card - I typically bring this, but before my last trip my regular bank card got hacked. Now I make sure to always have 2 cards with me.
2. Portable charge/power banks - I have a charger that I keep in my car all the time. It's a 4 in 1 charger, but I also have portable charge that I keep in my bag. It has come in handy more times that I can count for me and other people.
3. Reusable water bottle - I have my Stanley when I am driving. While I am hiking I use either a water bladder or a hydroflask.
4. Reusable Bags - My favorite is the Mary Kay roll up bag. It has 4 plastic bags that holds everything I need for my morning/evening routine and shower time.
5. Books - I will most always have a physical book along with my kindle app. I love to read. During my hikes I stop throughout for snacks and reading.
6. Wet Wipes - My favorite is HyperGo because they have so many different scents. They are also 12x12 so usually 1 works for the whole body.
