I haven’t always loved sports! It wasn’t until I was an adult that I got really into them. it’s kinda funny sometimes when I talk sports with my friends because I shock myself with how much I know and in what detail. It doesn’t help that I have worked and been behind the scenes in sports for a while. I think my perspective is unique because I can see things from a fans point of view and from behind the scenes. My sports bucket list covers every major sport.
Even though I probably go to more sporting events than one person should. There are iconic games that I haven’t been to and would love to go to. Right now, I am obsessed with wanting to see sports in unique situations. For example, I want to see a hockey game that’s not at an arena. Or going to the pinstripe bowl. (College football game at an MLB stadium) I think seeing sports not in their typical setting would be amazing. I never realized I had this obsession until I was watching an NCAA basketball game on a naval ship.
NFL
It’s definitely a sports bucket list to see every NFL stadium. The weird thing about me is I love architecture and each stadium is different and has something unique about it. I have been a few football stadiums and each of them has its own feel. The Arizona Cardinals stadium (indoor) is a completely different feeling than Lambeau (outdoor). These stadiums couldn’t be more different if they tried.
The Super Bowl is probably on every football fan’s sports bucket list. It would be great if the Packers were there, but I’m not picky. I think going to a Super Bowl anywhere would be amazing.
I have never been one to go to the Pro Bowl, but last year it was in Vegas with the skills competition at the new Vegas Aviators stadium. I have been to that stadium and you are close to the field. There is not a bad seat there, so the chance to see and talk with a player would be awesome. This year Peyton and Eli Manning are coaching the flag football game. I have watched Peyton and Eli on Monday and love their banter. Obviously being an SEC fan, it would be great to possibly meet them.
NCAA FOOTBALL
Any National Championship or playoff game would be fun to see. I have worked for several different bowl games and the environment is electric. It would be great to be on the other side of it, and not have to work.
Ole Miss Football Game – Not necessarily the game but at least The Grove. As long as the Rebels aren’t playing Arkansas I would cheer for them.
I would settle for any game at the Rose Bowl, but ideally the actual Rose Bowl. It would be such a cool experience from the parade to the game. The only downfall is the Rose Bowl is currently a Big 10 vs Pac 12 school unless it’s a playoff game.
Anything college football is my favorite so I will typically never turn down going to game. There are a few places I could care less to go and down on my bucket list, but if the opportunity with cheap or free ticket presents itself, I would go. (I’m looking at you Iowa.)
BASEBALL
I am going to include both NCAA baseball and MLB. Any world series or playoff game is high on my list. I have not been to either. I had the opportunity to go to a playoff game, but decided to give the tickets to someone else. I had to chose between a Pittsburgh Pirates play in game or college football. I choose the football game!
I would love to go to a All Star Game Weekend. I imagine that it would be similar to going to bowl game. I had the opportunity when it was in Kansas City but I was so poor then. I couldn’t afford the tickets.
I would have to get my passport, but I want to go to Toronto. I also want to see a game for a hotel room overlooking the stadium. It would be the same with going to a Braves games. I would love to back to Atlanta because they have a new stadium and a hotel that overlooks the stadium.
College World Series is another spot that I haven’t been. I have actually been there but when there were no games. I want to go back for the CWS.
NHL
I am not a huge hockey fan, but I do appreciate the strategy that goes into it. When I go to games I like to sit in unique spots or high enough where I can see play develop. But not so high that they look like little ants on ice.
Hockey is one of the sports I want to see in unique place. When we lived in California, they played in Tahoe. It would have been so cool to go there and watch a game. I remember watching it on tv and people were kayaking nearby. It was so an interesting game because it was so sunny it was melting the ice.
BASKETBALL
I am combining both NCAA Basketball with the NBA.
The only time I watch the NBA is usually on Christmas. It has been a long tradition that I watch a majority if not all the games that day. I think it would be fun to go to one of those games. I don’t watch a lot of basketball, so I don’t have very many games on my bucket list.
I would like to go to a Final 4 basketball game. I have been to a March Madness tournament game, but nothing close to the Championship. I have been to the SEC Tournament and that is so much fun. Who doesn’t love Nashville? I can’t wait to go back.
OTHER SPORTS
I think it would be fun to go to a soccer game, just to say that I went to a game. I know nothing about soccer. If I got tickets for free or in a unique spot I would go, but it’s not high on my list.
Gymnastics meet would be fun. Over the past few years, I have watched Friday Night Heights on the SEC Network. I think going to any meet would be fun to watch. It’s definitely on my sports bucket list to see Iowa State use to do (or still do) a Beauty and the Beast where it’s gymnastics and wrestling at the same time. That would be on my bucket list for sure.
Is there anything that I am missing? Here’s another bucket list of places I want to go.
