Friday 4 Favorites – June

Spread the love

Happy Friday!! Happy Summer!! June Friday Favorites is all about Summer! Summer is my favorite season out of the 4. I do not like being cold. I will rarely ever complain about it being too hot, and there is so much to do! I’m so excited for this summer. This spring was a little rough mentally for me and I don’t really know why and I can’t really explain it. But I just kept to myself. I didn’t go out or do anything that I loved! Which in return spiraled me back into an unhealthy headspace.

I’m so ready for summer! I have so many trips and things that I want to do which is why this months Friday 4 Favorites is about my summer bucket list. So, if you are new here. On the 4th Friday of every month, I share 4 of my favorite things based on a theme or just things that I am loving. Feel free to join along with me.

Upper Peninsula

I am so excited for this trip. This trip has been 2 years in the making. It’s my first solo trip that I will be gone more than a weekend. I have so much planned I really hope that I can get it all accomplished. The nice thing is I can always go back. I am going to do a lot of hiking, reading, and taking pictures. I can’t wait to see what happens during this trip because weekend trips recenter me and this trip is 10+ days!

Hiking Adventures

I signed up for a few hiking adventures this summer. We have a local park that is doing a few walking challenges that started in June. My goal is to complete them all. I have also signed up for some from My Nature Adventure.

Wildlife Prairie Park has a 4 and 5 mile challenge. At the entry gate, you’ll need to get the brochure because each have 9 pictures you have to take. Plus, this counts for other challenges as well. The bobcat 75 is walking 75 miles from June 1 to August 31st.

Start 75 Challenge

I started in the middle of the month, but for the next year I am going to do 75 Soft twice, 75 Medium twice, and 75 Hard once. I will say I WILL NOT be following the exact rules from the creator but it’s similar. I am tailoring it towards me and what I want to accomplish. Which overall is order in my life. I feel like things are so out of control right now. I don’t like it and I hoping that this will be the lifestyle switch I need to work towards becoming the person I want to be.

Launch something New

I have a few ideas on what this might be, but I’m not ready to share with everyone. I know total bummer. This has been something on my mind and heart for a really long time. I’m still unsure of how it will all work but I’m giving it time. It might be one thing or it might be 2. Just depends but by the end of the summer all the details will be out.

Honorable Mentions

Summer is my favorite season and I plan to be outside for the most part. I want to hike as much as I can. I want to explore Peoria and Illinois in general. I want to see it all!

  • I want to try a new brewery
  • I want to take a spontaneous trip
  • Be on the water
  • Try something I haven’t done before – like painting
  • Read a Classic Book – I have so many on my bookshelf waiting to be read

What do you have planned this summer?

Dates: Friday - Sundays until April 27
Time: 5:30p-9:30p

We got there around 6:30pm, and didn’t leave until 9:15pm. The website says the walk will take about an hour, but you can go at your own pace. There are so many lanterns in each animal exhibit.

We started going through the Asian Trail, there was year of animals. The Africa section was my favorite, but I am not going to tell you why. But it was a nice surprise, and I was way too excited.

There were hands on activities throughout the zoo, but by the time we got to some of the areas it was closed.
-make your lantern
-paint rocks to be placed around the zoo
-tattoos
-music each night

What are your “musts” when traveling? Let me k What are your “musts” when traveling? Let me know in the comments!

These are the things I always have when I travel: (arrow down)

1. Spare credit card/bank card - I typically bring this, but before my last trip my regular bank card got hacked. Now I make sure to always have 2 cards with me.
2. Portable charge/power banks - I have a charger that I keep in my car all the time. It's a 4 in 1 charger, but I also have portable charge that I keep in my bag. It has come in handy more times that I can count for me and other people.
3. Reusable water bottle - I have my Stanley when I am driving. While I am hiking I use either a water bladder or a hydroflask.
4. Reusable Bags - My favorite is the Mary Kay roll up bag. It has 4 plastic bags that holds everything I need for my morning/evening routine and shower time.
5. Books - I will most always have a physical book along with my kindle app. I love to read. During my hikes I stop throughout for snacks and reading.
6. Wet Wipes - My favorite is HyperGo because they have so many different scents. They are also 12x12 so usually 1 works for the whole body.

In the reel - Things I won't travel without
