July Goals & June Recap

Spread the love
June & July goals. Summer goals

I love writing these type of posts is twofold because writing and posting creates a level of accountability and in a while I’m verbalizes these goals. The things I want to accomplish aren’t just in my head or on a piece of paper shoved in my desk. I love reading these types of posts because I love to see other peoples goals. Seeing other peoples goals is super intriguing because I think it shows what’s important to that person right now. It gives a little bit of an insight into their life. Here’s a look at my July goals.

I didn’t use to think this way at all. I would say about 5 years ago there was a shift. Before that I would see people’s goals or things they want to accomplish and be like I want that too. There use to be a popular post in blogging called 101 Things in 1001 Days. (Maybe it’s still a thing, I just don’t see it.) Steph at Imperfectly Perfect did these and I loved them. She also had so many cool things on her list. Some I took and really needed – finding a skin care routine that works for me. Some I took because it’s sounded fun but weren’t really me – I can’t think of anything off the top of my head but there was some.

July is a new way of goal setting for me. In March or April, Zyia had their spring summit. One of the presenters shared the book The 12 Week Year and how this changed how she sets goals for her business. I read it a few weeks later, and it literally has changed my life. I am now thinking in terms of the next 3 months. This is my new year. What are the goals that I want to accomplish to make a BIG shift in my life. Instead of thinking I still have time to accomplish things I set in December or January, I know think I have 3 months to reach those goals.

I have also changed my goal strategy because at the beginning of the year I was using 2 Powersheets – One for business and One for personal. Again in The 12 Week Year, the author talks about how your goals should align with your personal life. For so long I was trying to keep them separate which probably creating the internal struggle I was feeling.

The stars aligned perfectly because in June, Lara Casey (Cultivate What Matters) came out with a 90 day Powersheet Goal Planner. Each day I sat down for about an hour a day and went through each page in the new sheets to write out what’s important to me. I crossed checked to see if I missed anything with my old power sheets. Some of the goals were relevant anymore or I accomplished.

July Goals

With my new thought process of accomplish goals in a 12 week span. Every day is like a week, and every week is like a month. That thought is really scary and intimidating if I’m being honest. I keep that thought in the back of my mind, but each day being 1% better than I was yesterday. Working towards creating my ideal day and ideal life. The author in the book did say the first 12 week span was going to be the toughest, so I’m trying not to be too hard on myself.

Here are July’s Goals

  • Lost 10 pounds and 5 inches total
  • Complete 75% of the 75 soft
  • Post 10 blog posts
  • Every Friday update Mint and finance google calendar
  • Close All my rings in July
  • Complete Success in 60 at least 50% of the time (Zyia)
  • Finish 1 personal, professional, and education book

I am super excited about each one of these goals because they each align with one of my bigger goals. For me it’s about taking daily steps of consistent action to move towards the life I want. Instead of trying to fake until I make it. That frame of mind works for some people, but I found out this year it does the opposite effect. I feel defeated and miserable then I don’t do anything because what’s the point. (Dramatic I know, but that’s how my brain works)

Recap of June

June was a tough month for getting things done, because I picked up a lot of overtime at my full-time job.

I am interested in how you set your goals. Are goals even a thing during the summer? What are your goals for July?

Dates: Friday - Sundays until April 27
Time: 5:30p-9:30p

We got there around 6:30pm, and didn’t leave until 9:15pm. The website says the walk will take about an hour, but you can go at your own pace. There are so many lanterns in each animal exhibit.

We started going through the Asian Trail, there was year of animals. The Africa section was my favorite, but I am not going to tell you why. But it was a nice surprise, and I was way too excited.

There were hands on activities throughout the zoo, but by the time we got to some of the areas it was closed.
-make your lantern
-paint rocks to be placed around the zoo
-tattoos
-music each night

These are the things I always have when I travel: (arrow down)

1. Spare credit card/bank card - I typically bring this, but before my last trip my regular bank card got hacked. Now I make sure to always have 2 cards with me.
2. Portable charge/power banks - I have a charger that I keep in my car all the time. It's a 4 in 1 charger, but I also have portable charge that I keep in my bag. It has come in handy more times that I can count for me and other people.
3. Reusable water bottle - I have my Stanley when I am driving. While I am hiking I use either a water bladder or a hydroflask.
4. Reusable Bags - My favorite is the Mary Kay roll up bag. It has 4 plastic bags that holds everything I need for my morning/evening routine and shower time.
5. Books - I will most always have a physical book along with my kindle app. I love to read. During my hikes I stop throughout for snacks and reading.
6. Wet Wipes - My favorite is HyperGo because they have so many different scents. They are also 12x12 so usually 1 works for the whole body.
