My Training Philosophy

Spread the love
My training philosophy

I am not your typical trainer. It took me a while to be ok with the type of trainer I am and that I want to be. My training philosophy has evolved over time through the different gyms I have worked at and gyms I belong to. I have worked at several gyms where the trainers worked out all the time and were very conscious of what they were eating and doing. I am NOT here to say that’s the bad way to train. It’s just not the way I train. My journey to come into my own style of trainer has been a lot of ups and downs.

When we work together we are working for life not ONLY for big life events. I’m not saying you shouldn’t look good for certain events but I don’t think that should be the only reason. I want you to be able to live your best life every single day! It’s all about making small and consistent lifestyle changes.

I am the type of trainer that I want to get to know you beyond the gym. During the sessions, I want to get to know you and your family. By getting to know you it helps me to know your why. What is the driving force behind you wanting to make this lifestyle change. I follow your lead on what you want to share with me.

The other day I was at a training for my full time job. I was drinking a Pepsi, and we were getting to know each other. I told them that I have my certification in personal training and specialty in nutrition. The trainer said “but you’re drinking a Pepsi. Not judging but I’m curious.” I am actually not offended because I drink pop. Visit breweries. I eat what I want. I do all of these because I believe in moderation.

Another perfect example of things in moderation is my love for donuts. My thing is sweets. I love cupcakes, cookies, cakes, ice cream and donuts. We are doing a biggest loser challenge with our department. I came to work eating a donut before my shift. One of the managers said why are you eating that. I said because I wanted the donut. I am ok eating this donut now because I will only eat 1. If I don’t eat this donuts because I am doing a challenge and suddenly taking a lot things out of my diet. That’s exactly what my body is going to want. Then instead of eating 1 donut, I will eat a dozen. Give yourself grace. (Also a lot of people doing this challenge aren’t doing it anymore because they couldn’t maintain that lifestyle for so long.

When I train with people, I believe that you should have correct form. If you are going to work out, you should have good form. Good form is the foundation of it all. For example, deadlifts are a common exercise in workouts. There is so much that could go wrong but I want to educate you to be able to lift heavier and not get injured.

I would love to have clients forever, but that’s not my goal. My goal is to teach you what you need then you be able to do it yourself. If you want to continue training with me, I will continue to teach and educate you where you are in your fitness and lifestyle goals. I want you to be gain your own confidence and be able to go out on your own. But I will always be here for you.

Dates: Friday - Sundays until April 27
Time: 5:30p-9:30p

We got there around 6:30pm, and didn’t leave until 9:15pm. The website says the walk will take about an hour, but you can go at your own pace. There are so many lanterns in each animal exhibit.

We started going through the Asian Trail, there was year of animals. The Africa section was my favorite, but I am not going to tell you why. But it was a nice surprise, and I was way too excited.

There were hands on activities throughout the zoo, but by the time we got to some of the areas it was closed.
-make your lantern
-paint rocks to be placed around the zoo
-tattoos
-music each night

What are your “musts” when traveling? Let me k What are your “musts” when traveling? Let me know in the comments!

These are the things I always have when I travel: (arrow down)

1. Spare credit card/bank card - I typically bring this, but before my last trip my regular bank card got hacked. Now I make sure to always have 2 cards with me.
2. Portable charge/power banks - I have a charger that I keep in my car all the time. It's a 4 in 1 charger, but I also have portable charge that I keep in my bag. It has come in handy more times that I can count for me and other people.
3. Reusable water bottle - I have my Stanley when I am driving. While I am hiking I use either a water bladder or a hydroflask.
4. Reusable Bags - My favorite is the Mary Kay roll up bag. It has 4 plastic bags that holds everything I need for my morning/evening routine and shower time.
5. Books - I will most always have a physical book along with my kindle app. I love to read. During my hikes I stop throughout for snacks and reading.
6. Wet Wipes - My favorite is HyperGo because they have so many different scents. They are also 12x12 so usually 1 works for the whole body.
